I’ve decided to share what I deem to be the five best apps for iPhone (I don’t have a Black Berry so I don’t know which apps they have). I love my iPhone it’s my personal entertainment center on the go that also does things to organize my fashion life.

1. Shop Style is my favorite because it gives you one touch access to thousands of handbags, purses, shoes and clothes perfectly categorized for the browsing. It’s like all the best stuff from Neiman, Saks and and a bunch of other great stores without the hard sell from sales people. Shop Style is a looky-loo app and I’m on it almost as much as Facebook - that’s a lot. For some reason I’m hard wired to shop. It’s entertainment for me even if I’m not going to purchase, I have to know what’s out there. This app makes constant shopping possible.

Arlenis Sosa, Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez are splashed on the cover of the September i-D Magazine and inside in a spread called Pretty Young Things. This shoot follows the trend Vogue Italia started last year by featuring Black models exclusively in throughout the pages of their July 2008 issue. As magazines go the September issue is generally the most important issue of the year so it’s a high visibility place to be. Dunn is apparently five months pregnant in the pics which is the real story as far as I’m concerned.

Mary J Blige and Gucci are teaming up to raise money for Blige’s Foundation for the Advancement for Women Now, a charity that she founded to increase self esteem and opportunities for women with troubled backgrounds, a topic that she has some experience with herself. On Sept. 16, Gucci will donate a percentage of the day’s sales of the limited edition Twirl timepiece at its Fifth Avenue flagship to FFAWN, as well as sales of the watch in other Gucci stores and select department and specialty stores in the U.S. and Canada. “Mary J inspires all of us with the songs, and now through her commitment to the empowerment of disadvantaged young women,” said Frida Giannini, Gucci’s Creative Director.

The Twirl is a black bangle style with a swiveling face bedazzled in black diamonds. It will retail for $1,895 which is just about the going rate for a splurge statement accessory. At least some of the money you spend  will go to helping women get on the right track. Brava Mary!

Hip-hoppers and nearly nude models rejoice! Vibe Magazine, which folded in June is getting a cash transfusion from Intermedia Partners, the financial backer of Uptown Magazine. Vibe will be relaunched as a quarterly with a revamped web site that could go as soon as next month. No word as of yet as to whether Vibe Vixen, the fashion and beauty arm of the empire will return (that’s the part we care about) but this is good news for the flailing publishing industry.

In the OMGiest (no chance that’s a real word) turn in fashion colabos, Rodarte is designing a capsule collection for Target’s Go International series. Rodarte, designed by sister duo, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, is responsible for the leather cut-out thigh high leggings Rihanna was running around town in a few months ago. The Target rep says, “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.” The edgy (by Target standards) line will be in stores in between December 20th and February 6th. We can’t wait!

Hooray! In December, Disney’s releasing the first ever feature length animated film featuring an African American princess. The Princess and the Frog will “star” Princess Tiana most likely kissing a bunch of frogs - something I can relate to but I digress. Carol’s Daughter, the line of homemade bath and body products has developed a line of children’s products in conjunction with the film. The line will include detangling shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath all priced at $10. I can’t wait for either.

R&B singer Ne-Yo will be repping Macy’s label Alfani Red, a contemporary menswear line. They chose Ne-Yo after his performance at Macy’s Passport in San Francisco. In one web clip featured on Macy’s website, called “Style,” Ne-Yo said he patterned his look after “the whole Rat Pack” of Frank Sinatra, Joey Bishop, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin, saying they were “dressed to the nines. It wasn’t contrived, it was effortless cool.” I’d buy pants for my man based on that…

So now Beyoncé’s designing sneakers. Interesting because I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear a pair but that’s neither here nor there. She and her mom are launching their line of Deréon footwear, with a sweepstakes in partnership with athletic footwear retailer, Footaction. The promotion will offer customers a chance to win an all-expense-paid trip for two (one winner and a guest) to experience Beyoncé in London for her “I AM…” World Tour.  That’s an incredible prize.
